    • Hello,

We are sorry we do not have past Checkpoint papers. Checkpoint papers are only available for registered Cambridge school. Please kindly obtain that from school.

  1. Hi IGCSE,
Thanks for the amazing resources. I’ve gotten better at my term exams because of these. I have a couple of questions though. This is actually my first time studying CIE, as I have moved from another country. As so, I have missed out on a lot of the portions in 9th grade, especially french. How can I cover this before the Feb-March session. Also, the accent for the French listening is very hard. Do you have any tips? Also, is there any way to study for Art & Design for papers 2 and 4? Also, I am having a kind of hard time switching from my original style of writing, which is in american english, to the correct kind?
Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

    • Hi Pranav,

Here?s how to improve your listening skills:
      1. Pick 3 or 4 practice exam questions that are different from each other (closest to what is expected in the latest syllabus). You can refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams here: https://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/.
      2. Prepare answers to questions that are likely to come up
      3. Find out how to pronounce the words and read them out loud.
      4. Learn your answers by heart. Learn your answers one phrase or sentence at a time. Select a chunk and repeat it to yourself over and over until you?ve got it.
      5. Understand and learn the questions. Look up any words you don?t know and learn to recognise keywords. Learn each question alongside the answer that goes with it.
      6. Learn two or three idiomatic phrases or sayings and memorise them. Go for sayings that could be used to talk about any topic or topic-specific ones that you know you?ll be able to use in the exam.
      7. Compile a list of topic-specific vocab that?s likely to come up. If you can, learn the gender of any nouns and the different tenses of any verbs. Learn the vocab so you can use and recognise it.
      8. Get a parent or friend to do a mock exam with you. Pay attention to where you slip up and then work on improving those areas.
      9. Make useful notes.
Lastly, practice, practice, and more practice. Use our past exam papers (https://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/) to practice and refer to the syllabus (https://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/) to get a better idea of what is expected.

With regards to Art and Design (0400), upon checking its subject syllabus candidates must take two components. All candidates take Component 1 and choose either Component 2 or Component 3 or Component 4. As such there are no Papers 2 and 4. Kindly download the subject syllabus here: https://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/

Lastly, when it comes to writing, the most important things you need to do are: read a lot and write a lot. We can?t stress enough of ?read a lot?. By reading, you will gain tremendous knowledge on how to phrase your sentences, types of vocabulary, style, etc? Besides reading, you ought to practise writing as well. You have to put to use what you have learnt.

  3. Do i have to choose a combination of paper (I mean Paper 1&3/2&4 or either Paper 5&6) while I am appearing for igcse exams. And if yes, how do I know which paper I will be appearing for. Will the teachers be choosing for us.Can you explain me this. (From India)

    • Hi Tanishka,

We are not the exam board. CIE is the exam board. Furthermore, if your school is a registered Cambridge School, your teachers can get all the required resources from your school.
