      • Hello IGCSE! thank you for replying! I am asking about the questions of exercise 1, 0511 and also could you please tell how the speaking tests of Urdu as a second are conducted because I am going to have my speaking tests starting from next month and I do not know anything about it yet
        Best regards,
        Amna.

        • Hi Amna,

Keep your answers short ? a date or number or a short phrase should be enough to get a mark. The dotted line on the question paper gives you a guide about how much to write. Too much writing can waste your time, and, if you give too much information, you might include wrong details which could mean you lose a mark.

With regards to the Speaking component for Urdu as a Second Language (0539), the Speaking component is composed of 3 parts:
Part 1: Presentation [Total: 20 marks]
Part 2: Topic Conversation [Total: 20 marks]
Part 3: General Conversation [Total 20 marks]

The duration of the whole Speaking component will take about 10-12 minutes.

  2. Hi IGCSE Center

    Thank you for your efforts.
I?d like to ask if you could help have the Environmental Management IGCSE book pdf for free. I will be having my exam this May/June and I still don?t have the book please help me.

    • Hi Jasmine,

Unfortunately, we do not have free books, or any books for that matter. However, one of the students shared this guideline for Environmental Management (0680),

      1. You need to know the content by heart. Everything from the Lithosphere to the Biosphere should be embedded in your brain indefinitely. I used this book https://www.amazon.com/Environmental-Management-Core-Level-IGCSE/dp/0199151318 which is very comprehensive and I think it is one of the best books to exist for this particular subject.

      2. Revise. Keep revising. You never know when you?re going forget one important detail. Often times in exams, we get questions from topics we neglected.

      3. Past papers are your best friend. Practice, practice, practice. I cannot stress this point enough. Revise and practice- that should be your cycle.

      4. Definitions. The Cambridge people are a big fan of catching you by surprise. And in a subject such as EM, you need to know how to define a concept concisely. Don?t neglect these.

      5. Graphs and calculations. Brush up on your math, you will get a question related to math GUARANTEED.

  3. Hi IGCSE centre,
Is it necessary to write an introduction for our answers to the 6 mark and 10 mark questions in History (0470)?

    • Hello Rebecca John,

All the questions in Paper 1 are in the form of structured essays split into three parts: (a), (b) and (c).

Part (a) questions: ask you to describe historical events, themes or aspects of history using details and knowledge in context (4 marks)
      Tips:
      -Give precise and accurate details.
      -Give examples.
      -Avoid generalised statements.

Part (b) questions: ask you to explain why a specific event or factor happened or why it was important (6 marks)
      Tips:
-Explain why, don?t just describe. For example, if you were asked: ?Why was the Treaty of Versailles disliked by so many in Germany??
-You would need to describe the Treaty and make it clear why this would lead to Germans disliking it.

Part (c) questions: ask you to provide a balanced argument and conclusion about historical events or factors (10 marks)
      Tips:
-Explain your judgements by comparing the factor in the question against other factors from your own knowledge to give a balanced explanation. These questions typically ask for your judgements using questions like ?How far do you agree??, ?How significant??, ?How successful?? or ?How effective??

      General Advice:
      – You must answer all three parts of the questions you choose.
      – Each question relates to a Key Question from the syllabus. Make sure you pick the questions that you can answer most easily.
      – Make sure you include your own knowledge, facts, dates and relevant examples in all of your answers
