Hello,
Refer to the English paper 0500 which requires candidate to write about 250-350 words.
Will the candidate be penalised in the event he writes more that 350 words, say 800 words? Looking forward to your reply.
Thank you
ML
Hi Mei Lin,
You will not be penalised for exceeding the word limit, but if there are needed points inside the excess words, they won’t be marked and crossed out.
We strongly suggest that you keep to the word limit. Remember, you are being tested for accuracy, cohesion, and concision. Furthermore, the word limits will help you to plan your time in the examination and target the requirements of each question more effectively.

Hi Nicole,
Please take deep breaths, and relax. You have enough time to prepare for the exams.
Here are some revision tips to help your exam preparations:
1. Revise the subjects from the beginning. Refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams. You can download the subject syllabus here: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/
2. Use the past exam papers (https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/) as revision. Please start with the latest papers as they have the newest syllabus format and continue with the older ones from 5 years.
3. Pay attention to the most common mistakes he always seems to make. Take notes and revise them to avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exams.
