  1. Hello, I’m not sure if I should take English as a first language on May/June 2021 or as a second language on Sep/Oct 2020 because some universities might prefer first language more. If I were to take an architecture course, does it need to be in english as a first language? If it doesn’t, would the top universities accept English as a second language?

    • Hello Wendy,

We strongly suggest that you get the confirmation of the required subjects from your preferred colleges/universities. In this way, you would have 100% assurance that you have chosen the right subjects for your future studies.

Furthermore, you might be interested in joining our A* subscription courses. For English subjects, there is a writing practice after each topic and you can submit your writing for marking. To know how it works, please kindly read this page: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-revision-courses/

      Thank you.

    • Will it affect my university acceptance if I take only 5 subjects (English, maths, economics, business and ict). Please help me

      • Hello Mary,

The best way to confirm this is to inquire to your preferred university about their subject requirements in accordance with the field of study that you want to pursue.

  2. Hello Good day ? what is different between Mathematics and International Mathematics? Which one is Student registering for Cambridge O’ Level will take ? Thanks

  3. Hi,
I joined IGCSE school last year I got admission on year10. So, I wanted to ask if I can join university after my Ig’s (year11) and study for medical and what will be the requirements?

    • Hello Armin,

Candidates usually proceed to A Level or equivalent before entering university. For medical studies, usually an A Level or equivalent qualification is required. However, you may check the possibility of entering university at IGCSE level. Some universities offer foundation programs which do not require A level.

But we strongly suggest that you check the entry requirements either from the university’s website or contact the university directly.

  4. Hi there.
I’m an incoming 9th-grade student who wrote Checkpoint exams in grade 7. Is it possible for me to write my IGCSEs in grade 9 rather than in 10th grade?

    • Hello Liana,

Before we could provide our suggestion, please kindly let us know if you are a schooled student or private candidate?

  5. Can kids take year advance and move to upper grade? Like say they are in grade 5 and they have finished subjects before way before academic year ends, can they move up?

    • Hello Sahesh,

For homeschooled students, parents can assess their child’s knowledge level and match it with their needs. This is the benefit of homeschooling. They can study at their own pace and are not bound by the school’s academic calendar.

On the other hand, schooled students must follow their school’s rules and regulations.

      • But question is if they can take year up if they finish subjects before hand
        Your answer doesn’t answer question

          • Hi Sahesh,

For homeschooled students, they are free to move to another level whenever they are deemed to be ready. But since there are no Checkpoint tests available for private students, you have to make your own assessments to assess your child’s progress.
