  1. Dear IGCSE Centre,
Out of curiosity, I just checked other people?s results of their IGCSE?s from past years and I noticed that any grade below 90 only received an A. When i checked this with the threshold for corresponding the year, however, the minimum grade to reach an A* was much lower than 90 for the subject. How is this so? I am getting very anxious and i would appreciate a reply

    Thankyou in advance

    • Hello Erin,
The grade threshold changes every year. Depending on the overall worldwide candidates’ achievements for that year. If the exam was rather difficult, the achievement graph would be low. Hence the percentage to achieve A* would be low as well ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I think you’re mixing up percentage and percentille. You have to get above 90 percentile to get an A* but your percentage may actually be much lower.

      • i said the mass would be higher than 100 g for both because the iron bar and magnet would both be attracted to the bar magnet and go down as they had the north poles and things in a magnetic field always move from north to south. What about you?

        • yeah but the two poles attracted so if you moved one close to the other it would attract and therefore the weight would decrease as it is lifted from the balance and onto the other magnet

          • idk i assumed the magnets would go down and cling to the one on the balance but it also depends on whether or not they are being held in position in the air. That was a weird question because if the magnet goes up then the reading on the scale would be zero and it wouldn’t just simply decrease.. /:

    • Practise loads of past papers. Im struggling with it as i started the course really late but i find that just solving past papers is the best thing to do as it gives you an insight as to how to go about solving questions. Maths and especially additonal just require lots of practice..right now ive neglected add. Math and solving past papers and ive realised it’s not good at all as ive forgotten some stuff, but now that i have 10 free days im surely gonna have a go at it. Don’t make the mistake i have!:)

      • Thanks alot! But are you doing the recent papers only or even the older ones.
Good luck anyway and may we all get an A*. Is this your last exam?

        • Ive been doing recent papers (2014)but ive also done older ones. And it’s my last exam, after economics and business studies ๐Ÿ™‚ im really nervous!! May the curve forever be in our favour (even tho add. Math thresholds are usually really high) and may we all get A*s!!

  2. Dear IGCSE Team, may I please know where the past papers for Computer Science (0487) are. There is only a specimen paper for 2016 in the folder :S
P.S. Are there no specimen papers for 2015 or 2017?

    • Hello Eugene,
This is a new subject, so no past papers available. There are only specimen papers available for 2015 and 2016. Check the folder again.

You can use the past papers of Computer Studies (0420) for your practice.
