    • Molecular mass of compound, the compound with least Mr will diffuse first, ammonia has an Mr of 17 while HCl has 36.5, so ammonia will diffuse fast and reach react with HCl at position D, the reason answer is D.
As the ammonia particles are lighter than the hydrogen chloride particles they diffuse at a higher rate. Therefore the cover more distance and the reaction takes place closer to the hydrogen chloride soaked cotton

    • If extended P2, then I will explain, the answer is D because in these types of questions u need to calculate Mr, i.e, Molecular mass of compound, the compound with least Mr will diffuse first, ammonia has an Mr of 17 while HCl has 36.5, so ammonia will diffuse fast and reach react with HCl at position D, the reason answer is D,

    • Hi Sakina,
Please ask your exam centre for help in this. Though the marks for speaking test will not contribute to the overall marks, it is still important for your future studies. Moreover your result slip will show “No show” / “Ungraded” for the speaking test.
