  1. Hey! I recently read the grade thresholds for Economics 0455 March 2015. What is noticed is it said the maximum total marks is 150. However, Adding the raw marks of both paper1 and paper2 gives a total mark of 120. I am really confused…please help!
    Thanks!

  2. If we exceed the word limit in English Language do we get penalized ?
Please do reply back asap as I have exceeded the word limit and if they do cut some marks I won’t be able to reach an A*. I am a very sincere student , please help out.

    • Hello Rheaa,
They’ll probably penalise a mark or two because they might feel like it (it depends entirely on the mood of the examiner and of course, your quality of writing). If you exceeded it by way too much then there is a higher chance, but don’t worry, you’ll get an A* for sure, as long as you worked hard. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Sorry! I just found out something. The board will not penalise any marks if you have exceeded the word limit:P My bad, but anyways, just hope for the best.

    • if its like a few words ahead like for eg if the word limit is 300 you write 320 words they won however if its too much say 400 word then would cut marks besides they may cut few marks i am sure that will not stop you from getting an A *

    • It depends. Cambridge allows students to exeed up to 10% of the given word limit. For example if the word limit was a maximum of 200, you will be rewarded until 220 (20 words extra) so you can exeed but always make sure it’s not more than 10% of the word limit. Best of luck!!!

    • yes, if you exceed the word limit of 200 words or any other limit, you’ll be placed from the 3 to 4 marks band and this means that you won’t get a score more than 4 in both language and content. this is only applicable if you exceed the word limit by 20 words or something, but if you exceed by few words then no problem.

  3. Hello IGCSE centre,

I would like to now if we can just right phrases instead of full sentences in the French listening paper, 0520, paper 1. I need this information as it can greatly save time in section 2, ex.2 and section 3, ex 2.

    Thanks in advance!
